1) Off The Wall – Michael Jackson

Molti lo riconoscono come primo vero e proprio album da solista di Michael Jackson, di certo il primo dopo aver compiuto 21 anni, la soglia della maggiore età negli Stati Uniti.

Viene pubblicato il 10 agosto 1979 dall’etichetta Epic Records. Grazie ad Off The Wall, Jackson vinse il suo primo Grammy Award come cantante solista (premio per la migliore interpretazione R’n’B, con la canzone Don’t stop ‘til you get enough).

2) Thriller – Michael Jackson

Thriller è l’album più venduto nella storia della musica. Rolling Stones lo ha inserito al 20° posto nella lista dei 500 album migliori di tutti i tempi. Vincitore di 8 Grammy Awards nel 1984, rendendo Jackson il primo artista al mondo a vincere 8 premi nella stessa serata. Tutti i singoli estratti da Thriller finirono nella Top 10 della classifica Billboard Hot 100. Tra i brani più famosi: Wanna Be Startin’ Something, Thriller, Beat it e Billie Jean. Fu pubblicato il 30 novembre del 1982.

3) Bad – Michael Jackson

31 agosto 1987. Terzo ed ultimo album scritto in collaborazione con Quincy Jones. Fu l’album che consacrò il cantante al titolo che non perse mai più di Re del Pop. Su 11 tracce, ben 5 finirono in cima alla classifica Billboard Hot 100: Bad, The Way You Make Me Feel, Man in the Mirror, I just can’t stop loving you, Dirty Diana.

4) Donna Summer – Donna Summer

Jones produsse il decimo album in studio della cantante statunitense Donna Summer. Fu pubblicato il 19 luglio 1982 dall’etichetta Geffen, e diventò Disco D’Oro negli Stati Uniti, superando le 500.000 copie vendute.

Tra i brani più noti contenuti in Donna Summer: Love is in control, The woman in me, Livin’ in America.

5) We are The World – USA for Africa (Singolo)

Il 7 marzo del 1985 fu rilasciato un singolo della durata di 7 minuti e 10 secondi. Il titolo era We Are The World. Jones aveva radunato i più importanti artisti sulla scena musicale pop statunitense, e il nome scelto per presentare gli artisti fu USA, la sigla non indicava la nazionalità dei cantanti, ma era un acronimo per United Support Artists. Tutti i proventi (più di 100 milioni di dollari) furono devoluti alla popolazione etiope, in quel periodo colpita da una tremenda carestia. Negli anni ’80 divenne il brano più venduto nella storia della musica.

1) Off The Wall – Michael Jackson

Many recognize it as Michael Jackson’s first true solo album, certainly it’s his first one after turning 21 (when Jackson became legally adult).The album was published on August 10th 1979 by Epic Records label. Thanks to Off The Wall, Jackson won his first Grammy Award as a solo singer (best R’n’B performance, with Don’t stop ‘til you get enough).

2) Thriller – Michael Jackson

Thriller is the best-selling album in the whole history of Musica. Rolling Stones classified it as the 20th in the 500 best albums list. It won 8 Grammy Awards in 1984, making Jackson the first artist in the world who won 8 awards during the same night. All the singles from Thriller went in the Top 10 of the chart Billboard Hot 100. 3) Bad – Michael Jackson

August 31st 1987. Third and last album writted and produced by Quincy Jones. This was the album which gave Jackson the title of King of Pop. 5 out 11 tracks went on the top of Billboard Hot 100 chart: Bad, The Way You Make Me Feel, Man in the Mirror, I just can’t stop loving you, Dirty Diana.

4) Donna Summer – Donna Summer

Jones produced the 10th studio album of the American singer Donna Summer. It was published on July 19th 1982 by Geffen label. It became a Gold Record in the USA, with more than 500.000 copies sold.

5) We are The World – USA for Africa (Singolo)

On March 7th 1985, a 7:10 minutes of lenght single was published. Its title We Are The World. Jones gathered the most important American pop artists under the name USA, which did not indicate the country of all the artists, but the name United Support Artists. All proceeds (more than 100 billion dollars) were donated to Ethiopian people, at time suffering from a terrible famine. During the ’80, We Are The World became the best-selling single in the history of Music.
